ACTION PLAN OF GOVT. SAIHA COLLEGE, SAIHA FOR 2007-08
The following Action plans were proposed for 2008 -2009
1. Opening of new courses like Commerce, Geography, Public Administration at UG level.
Received permission from the Govt. of Mizoram, and the other process related to appointment of qualified candidates for the new faculties is going on. Once appointment is made, applications may be called for admission.
2. Construction of new RCC building for the college. It is likely to be started within the financial year.
3. Computerization of Library and for administrative department. One computer was bought for this purpose. The process is going on.
4. Procuring advanced technology for effective teaching. Not yet done.
5. Conducting Seminar, sponsored by NAAC
Two seminars were conducted in Govt. Saiha College during the reporting year. Out of the two, one was organized at District level on “ Mizo tawng Ziak tan Dik” (How to write correct Mizo language) held on 27.9.2008 and the other one was organized at State level, on “Enhancement of Quality Education in Higher Education” organized by IQAC, Govt. Saiha College, in collaboration with NAAC, Bangalore, held on 13 and 14-Nov.-2008. The particulars had already been sent to NAAC, Bangalore separately just after the seminar was over.

A Brief Story of Govt. Saiha College During 1978 - 2008
The Govt. Saiha college was established on 20.07.1978. Govt. of Mizoram had upgraded this college to the deficit status from 1985 and provincialised w.e.f. 31.01.1992.

Welcome to Government Saiha College
INTRODUCTION
The idea for opening of ARTS COLLEGE at Saiha town for the whole Chhimtuipui District was started since 1947. The first meeting was held in the month of June,1974 under the Chairmanship of Shri K.Paichho, the then Executive Member (Rev)., MADC, and decided to set up a College at Saiha. But due to financial problems and other difficulties, the decision for setting up of a College could not be materialised.
1) However, due to the pressure of public, the college was opened at the P.U.C. level w.e.f.20.7.1978. The Government of Mizoram had accorded permission/Recognition for the opening of a College at Saiha w.e.f.1979-80 Vide No. ECL-20/78/44. dt. 2-11-79.
Mizoram University
Mizoram University was established on July 2, 2001 by the Mizoram University Act, 2000 as a Central University the President of India as its Visitor. The objectives of the University, as laid down in the Act are “to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit, to make provisions for integrated courses in humanities, natural and physical sciences, social sciences, forestry and other allied disciplines in the educational programmes of the University; to take appropriate measures for promoting innovations in teaching-disciplinary studies and research; to educate and train man-power in the development of the state of Mizoram; and to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of that State, their intellectual, academic and cultural development”.
